Volunteer Services ~ Outreach Activities ~
Preservation
On behalf of MRSPT, Executive
Director Patricia Tyson has volunteered her services on a part-time weekly
basis for the past several years. After completing three years with the
Good Samaritan Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by
former Washington Redskins players, which mentors inner-city youth, Ms.
Tyson has begun assisting the archivist at the Charles Sumner School
Museum and Archives.
Several MRSPT members, who also volunteer as
Civil War female re-enactors with the Female Re-Enactors of Distinction
(FREED) of the African American Civil War Museum, participated
in its Martin Luther King Birthday Programs and Founder’s Week observances
for 2006 and 2007. Ms. Patricia Tyson was awarded the Drummer Jackson 2006
Preservationist of the Year Award at last year’s Founder’s Day Celebration
on May 23 at the Museum. Over the past year, MRSPT re-enactors
