Military Road School alumnus Mary Lewis
Jones expresses gratitude to Dr. Cooling for re-living many of her childhood
memories about the Brightwood neighborhood. Dr. Cooling discusses Civil War history
with MRSPT Board Member Nelson Rimensnyder and a guest. Dr. Cooling lectures on the
Civil War battle at Fort Stevens during which President Abraham Lincoln, who
was visiting the Fort, came under fire and thus became the only sitting U.
S. President to bear that distinction.
