Ms. Ashley B. Jones of Lanham, Maryland, who
graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School in June 2008 with a 3.5 GPA, is
furthering her formal education at Winston-Salem State University in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her major is nursing, and she is a member of
the Nursing Club at Winston-Salem. In addition to pursu ing
a degree, Ms. Jones tutors children in grades 1 through 6 at a YMCA in
Winston Salem. While attending Elizabeth Seton, Ms. Jones served as a
volunteer at Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. Among her other
activities were participating in an inter-school program known as the
Ambassadors Club, in which she provided orientation to a freshman and
subsequently mentored her, and membership in the Onyx Club, an
African-American discussion group that held forums. Ms. Jones is a “fashion
bug,” who enjoys thrift store shopping, and we wish her the best in her
first year of college.
