Meet Ms.
Laura John-Toussaint, this year’s recipient of the Military Road School
Preservation Trust Scholarship Award.
A graduate of Cardozo High School in northwest Washington, Laura, is
continuing her education at the University of Oklahoma where she will focus
on mechanical engineering and policy debating. Her hobbies are research,
reading and skiing; and she very much enjoys participating in as well as
teaching debating. Laura’s curriculum will include numerous opportunities to
exercise her debating skills.
Our prayers and well wishes go with Laura, who also enjoys the loving
support of her Mom, Mrs. Sharon St. Clair, brothers, Ronald and Larry, and
her cousin, Hazzy. Mrs. St. Clair serves in a ministry at the Allen AME
Chapel in southeast Washington. Ronald, a graduate of the University of the
District of Columbia (UDC), teaches Special Education at Janney Elementary
School. Larry, who is majoring in international law, will graduate from UDC
in 2006.
We are grateful for the donations given by our members and
supporters, which enabled MRSPT to financially assist Laura, whose favorite
saying is: “The roots are bitter but the fruit is sweet.”
