| The Military Road School
Preservation Trust is assisting the Brightwood Community Association's
Historic Preservation and Cultural Landscape Committee in promoting the
preservation of historic resources and cultural landscape throughout
Brightwood. |
| Abraham Lincoln's 196th
birthday celebration was held at the Fort McNair Officers' Club on February
12, 2005, and MRSPT was represented by Ms. Patricia Tyson, a member of the
Lincoln Group, who is also our Executive Director. |

A representative of MRSPT
attended the Cultural Tourism PR & Marketing Roundtable on February 10th at
The Goethe-Institut. |
| On February 15, 2005,
several MRSPT members attended a lecture by Dr. Frank Smith and reception
hosted by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in Washington, D.C.,
in celebration of Black History Month. Dr. Smith, Chairman of the Board and
Chief Executive Officer of the African American Civil War Memorial and
Museum, spoke on "The Challenge of Preserving African American Civil War
History and Related Sites." |

Saturday, October 22, 2005, members of the Board of Directors will be
attending the 2005 Mayor's Awards for
Excellence in Historic Preservation.
We hope to gain valuable information which will be share with our
membership. |
